Accounts Assistant

We are now looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team in Preston.
About the Role
This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the firm by supporting a wide range of financial processes linked to both client work and internal operations. You’ll be joining a collaborative, friendly team where accuracy, communication, and a proactive approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring incoming monies, updating internal spreadsheets, and notifying fee earners to ensure timely allocation to client files
Administration and reconciliation of petty cash
Processing client and office accounting transactions from the posting queue
Acting as second authoriser for bank payments
Preparing manual cheques
Managing batch imports for client disbursements and postings
Monitoring the accounts inbox and resolving queries as they arise
Essential Experience
Hands‑on experience of financial processes
Confident use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel
Desirable Experience
Experience working within the legal sector
Qualifications & Technical Skills
Experience using fully integrated financial systems
Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
